Islamabad: Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have turned to the Islamabad High Court in their quest for acquittal in the £190 million National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case.

Their request for acquittal had previously been denied by the accountability court, prompting them to challenge this decision in the High Court.

The petition, filed by , contends that there is insufficient evidence against the petitioners to warrant a conviction. The petitioners argue that they were entitled to acquittal based on merit, which the accountability court failed to grant, leading to the rejection of their acquittal plea.

The petition seeks to have the High Court overturn the accountability court’s ruling from September 12 and acquit Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi from the case.

In addition, a separate application has been submitted to the High Court requesting a suspension of the trial proceedings in the accountability court. This application argues that the trial should be put on hold until the acquittal request is resolved.
